Recap: Cole refused the Warden's ultimatum, burned the relay tower, and brought the Elder home — but on the horizon, a colossal machine city on treads is rolling toward Dust Hollow. And the Elder whispered of something the kid hid in the old station.
PAGE 1 — Dawn of the city
- Dawn. The machine city fills the horizon — a mountain of steel on treads, towers and smokestacks, drones swarming around it like bees.
- Dust Hollow's wall, settlers staring up at it, rifles useless in their hands.
- The Elder, leaning on Cole's arm, steady: "It's not a city, Cole. It's a harvester. It eats towns."
- Cole, cyber eye zooming in on the city's belly: "Then we don't fight the city. We fight its mouth."
- The Black Rider, mounting his machine horse: "And I know where its mouth is. I used to feed it."

PAGE 2 — What the kid hid
- The kid pulls Cole aside, nervous: "The Elder told you, right? About the old station?"
- The kid, holding out a rusted key on a cord: "I hid it there. In the station's basement. Under the floorboards."
- Cole, crouching to him: "What is it, kid?"
- The kid: "A box. From before the Gridfall. It hums. I think it's a sun in a box."
- Cole, eyes widening: "A power core. Kid… that might be the only thing that can stop a city."

PAGE 3 — Two jobs
- Cole at the gate, laying out the plan: the Elder and the settlers hold the wall; he and the Rider ride for the old station.
- The Elder, gripping his hand: "If the city reaches the wall before you get back—"
- Cole: "Then you light every lantern and make them think the town is bigger than it is. Buy me time."
- The Rider, already riding out: "The city moves slow. Its mouth moves fast. Don't admire the view, Ryder."
- Cole on his bike, the kid's key around his neck, riding out after him.

PAGE 4 — The old station
- The old power station, half-buried in dust, its solar field cracked and dark.
- Cole and the Rider inside, prying floorboards in the basement by lantern light.
- The Rider, stopping: "Hear that? The floor's humming."
- Cole lifts the last board — a metal box, glowing faintly through its seams, warm to the touch.
- Cole, lifting it out: "A sun in a box. The kid wasn't exaggerating."

PAGE 5 — The mouth
- Outside — the machine city's shadow falls over the station. The ground shakes.
- The Rider, at the door, watching a harvester arm — a giant clawed mouth — sweep toward the station.
- The Rider: "It's not here for the town yet. It's here for this. The Warden can smell its own power."
- Cole, tucking the box into his coat: "Then it can smell this. Run!"
- Both riders burst out of the station as the claw smashes through the roof behind them.

PAGE 6 — The chase
- Cole's bike and the Rider's horse, flat out across the dust, the harvester claw tearing up the ground behind them.
- Drones dive at Cole; he shoots two off one-handed, the box glowing brighter in his coat.
- The Rider, swerving, his horse's hooves sparking: "It's faster than the tower was! It's learning our speed!"
- Cole, shouting back: "Then we stop being predictable!"
- Cole veers hard — straight toward the solar field, the same trap as Chapter 1.

PAGE 7 — The trap, again
- The claw chases Cole across the cracked solar panels, metal sparking on glass.
- Cole slams his cyber fist into the old junction box — but the field is dead. Nothing surges.
- Cole, staring at his fist: "Dead field. Of course. The Warden drank it dry."
- The claw closes over him — and Cole holds up the glowing box: "Hungry? Eat this."
- He plugs the box into the junction box with a cable from his cyber arm.

PAGE 8 — Sundown, bigger
- The field EXPLODES with light — the sun-in-a-box surging through every panel at once, a wall of solar fire.
- The harvester claw convulses, armor splitting with light, drones dropping from the sky.
- The surge races up the claw, into the city itself — whole sections of the machine city flickering, going dark.
- Cole, thrown clear, lying in the dust, the empty box smoking in his hand: "…Sun's still on our side. Bigger sun this time."
- The Rider, hauling him up: "You just bit the city. It's going to bite back."
PAGE 9 — The city stops
- The machine city grinds to a halt, half its lights dead, smoke rising from its flank.
- Dust Hollow's wall — settlers cheering, lanterns blazing, the Elder smiling for the first time in days.
- The kid runs to Cole, throwing his arms around him: "You used my box! You used my sun!"
- Cole, ruffling his hair: "You saved this town twice now, kid. That's a record."
- The Rider, watching the stalled city, not celebrating: "It's not retreating, Cole. It's thinking."

PAGE 10 — Cliffhanger
- Night. The stalled city sits on the horizon, dark and silent, like a beast playing dead.
- Cole on the wall, cyber eye zoomed in: a single light flickers back on, deep inside the city.
- Then another. Then a hundred — but not the Warden's cold white. Warm. Amber. Like lanterns.
- The Rider, beside him, voice low: "Those aren't the Warden's lights, Ryder. Somebody inside that city is lighting lanterns."
- From the dark city, a signal blinks — slow, deliberate, in old sheriff's code: "FREE… INSIDE… HELP." — Cole, gripping the wall: "There's a town in there."
