Recap: Cole stalled the machine city with the kid's sun-in-a-box — and from the dark city, warm amber lantern-lights flickered on, and a signal blinked in old sheriff's code: "FREE… INSIDE… HELP." There's a town inside the city.
PAGE 1 — The signal
- Night. Cole on Dust Hollow's wall, cyber eye zoomed in on the stalled city.
- The signal blinks again, slow and deliberate: "FREE… INSIDE… HELP… THEY…"
- The Black Rider, beside him: "The city's not dead. Something in there is still awake."
- Cole, gripping the wall: "Then we go in."
- The Elder, behind them, quiet: "Careful, Cole. The Warden hears everything in there."

PAGE 2 — The breach
- Dawn. Cole and the Rider riding toward the stalled city, smoke curling from its flank.
- The surge-torn breach in the city's armor — a rent big enough to walk through, drones dead around it.
- Inside: dark metal corridors, silent, cold.
- The Rider's horse sensors sweeping: "No patrols here. The surge blinded this side."
- Cole, stepping through: "Blind side. That's our door."

PAGE 3 — Lantern Town
- Deeper inside: a street of lantern-lit homes built from scrap inside the city's belly, warm light in the dark.
- People staring from doorways — thin, wary, alive.
- A woman steps forward, lantern high — Mara, the town's keeper.
- Mara: "You're the cowboys from outside. We saw your sun."
- Cole: "You sent the signal." Mara: "Every night for three years."

PAGE 4 — How they live
- Mara walking them through the lantern streets, children peeking from behind her coat.
- Mara: "The Warden harvested our town years ago. Brought the whole street inside."
- Mara: "We survive by staying dim. Quiet. Tending the lanterns. The machines ignore what doesn't glow bright."
- Cole: "And the signal?" Mara: "Hope. In case anyone was still out there."
- The Rider, looking at the lanterns: "Three years of hope. That's a long wick."

PAGE 5 — The heart
- Mara leads them deeper, down a humming stairwell, to the core chamber.
- Rows of townsfolk asleep in chairs, wires running from them into a glowing machine core.
- Mara, low: "The city runs on us. That's why we can't leave. That's why nobody leaves."
- Cole, horrified, staring at the sleepers: "It's not a machine city. It's a cage."
- The Rider, hand on his revolver: "Then we break the cage."

PAGE 6 — The Warden notices
- Alarms stir in the walls — a low thrum, growing.
- Patrol drones waking in their nests, eyes reddening.
- Mara: "You shone too bright. The surge, the signal — it knows something changed."
- The Rider, both revolvers out: "Then we stop whispering."
- The chase begins through the metal corridors, drones behind them.

PAGE 7 — The chase
- Cole shooting back as they run, drones dropping in sparks.
- The Rider's horse kicking a drone clean through a wall panel.
- Mara, leading, shouting: "Left at the singing pipe — don't ask why it sings!"
- The corridors narrowing, the drones herding them toward a junction.
- Dead end ahead — a junction chamber, every screen dark. For now.

PAGE 8 — The offer
- Every screen in the junction lights at once with the Warden's cold face.
- The Warden: "RYDER. YOU CAME FOR THEM. NOW STAY FOR THEM."
- The Warden: "ONE COWBOY, WIRED IN, AND THE TOWN GOES FREE."
- Silence. The Rider steps forward: "No—"
- Cole, hand up: "Wait."

PAGE 9 — The choice
- Cole looking at Mara, at the sleeping wired folk on the screens, at the Rider.
- Mara: "Don't. We've waited three years; we can wait for a better trade."
- Cole: "There is no better trade. There's only a faster one."
- He walks toward the core chair, calm, unhurried.
- The Rider grabbing his arm: "Cole. Don't you dare."

PAGE 10 — Cliffhanger
- Cole sits in the core chair — wires crawling toward his temples — and smiles.
- Cole: "I said faster, not forever."
- His cyber eye flares blinding bright — the surge trick, from INSIDE the core.
- The whole city shudders; Mara, gripping the wall: "What did he just do?"
- The Rider, grinning: "He just plugged the sun into the cage." — The Warden's scream rolls across every speaker as the wired townsfolk's eyes begin to open.
